Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Person asked the young Engineer fresh out of MIT, "And what starting salary were you looking for?" The Engineer said, "In the neighborhood of $75,000 a year, depending on the benefit's package." The HR Person said, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5-weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years - say, a red Corvette?" The Engineer sat up straight and said, "Wow!!! Are you kidding?" And the HR Person said, "Of course, ...but you started it."
It's Funny to me that I did not go to College, yet I make more money than a lot of people I know that did? I think if you are Academically inclined, Go for it, but the Trades, Plumbing, Painting, Electrical.....If you become good at them and start your own business, will pay more and you'll work less. I started painting because I needed a Job, any Job, and before I knew it I was good at it. Out of work for a week when my boss went on vacation, I went out and knocked on doors. The third door I hit was a winner and by the time I was finished with her housed I had three more on the same street. When my X-Boss called me to go back to work , I gave him my notice. He asked me why I was leaving and I told him I couldn't afford to work for him any more, I was losing money! Now That Felt Good!!!
