    The quiet that goes with a gentle Christmas Eve snow with old standard carols in the background. (Enhanced by the ticking of my 200 year old long case clock, just recently up and reliably running for the first time in at least 30 years.)

    Bull Gators bellowing and rumbling in the pre-dawn darkness of the swamps.

    Rain falling in the parched yard.

    The sounds a fine firearm makes as you cycle it's action.

    The thunder of multiple radial engines flying overhead, especially if mounted in multiple single-engine fighter planes of WWII vintage!

    The long-awaited arrival of the BBT in the driveway, with some things ordered from MidwayUSA and The Sportman's Guide!

    with the extended family living in my house. My favorite sound happens at around 2 am. Silence.

    I'd get this all the time in college classes. MY answer then was
    "That SNIK noise the retarders make as they snap open on a pair of Snake Eyes heading for the wire..."



    Now a days,it's the gentile snoring of the wife as she is curled up at my side on the couch.
