Building a Root Cellar

    I have built two out of cinder bocks and put them in dirt banks.

    A root cellar doesn't have to be out of doors - one can be constructed in the corner of a basement. Sufficient moisture and ventilation are the keys

    I grew up with a root cellar in the corner of the basement in the house we lived in.

    BTW my Dad still calls the basement a "root cellar". It was kind of practical and typical 50 years ago.
