I have been looking for high quality, ecure handheld radios. If you could have any radio in the world, what would it be?

This is one I would like to get, but would be curious what you think.

Not the best in the world, but my next purchase is going to be the Garmin Rhino 120s. FRS radio with GPS.

They operate in the 2.4 GHz unlicensed band with wireless LANs, cordless phones and microwave radios.
The 16 channels means you could probably find a relatively interference free channel anywhere. The 50 mW means you won't interfere with other people, but you will still receive clutter from higher powered devices.
Strictly a tactical radio with its 500 meter range. If the antenna screws out, as it looks, could be converted to a longer range, even more secure system with two 2.4 GHz wireless LAN directional antennas.

Good link to explain spread spectrum.

Was going to buy two to take to Iraq with me, but just found out that FRS is jammed to keep insurgents from using cell phone initiated bombs. Oh well, back to the drawing board!
