Who here (if anyone) has an FFL dealers license? What I got to thinking the other day was that if you have a retailers license or especially with a wholesalers license you can buy ammo direct from the manufacturers. As many of us as there are just here on the board who would like to stock up some more on ammo and or burn through a case every month or two, if one of us had the money for an initial investment to buy a bunch of cases from the manufacturers and sell them on here at a real low mark up then whoever was selling them could most likely get their ammo paid for in return for helping the rest of us get a better deal. I'm sure I'm probably missing something on this but figured I would mention it and see what the problems with something like that would be if anyone has already looked into it.

My FFL told me that he gets really no break on ammo as a dealer. Same thing we can find online or in SGN. The ammo breaks come in bulk buys.

Every once in awhile, I see a really good deal and buy in bulk. I think the last time I bought .223, it was Federal 500 rnd cases for $89. IIRC, I picked up 20 and got free shipping, (around $10 a box).

As far as I know (AFAIK), that's abot the best you can do in ammo buys. When we go to Knob Creek MG shoot, you prolly heard phishi make reference to this, I almost always stock up and we all have to lug that lead back to the truck :D

If anyone sees a Really Good Deal on anything common that we could all use, let me know. I can make the bulk buy and then send out cases to others that are interested.

Online, I've found some good deals in the past at Wholesale Hunter... been a few yrs though since I dealt with them. The shipping is always a killer

We could do mags, or something.

Yeah, that usually eats up any savings, having to ship twice.

Once you break it all down, a Cash and Carry from a Gun Show is = to a good deal online...

I have a C&R FFL and that gets me dealer pricing at Brownell's & Midway. I've saved hundreds buying regular stuff but don't know if it would save me much on ammo since I reload most of mine. Probably gunshows are the way to go or ammoman.com.

I wasnt sure if it would save much or increase availability or anything or not, just thought it might be that buying direct from the makers would put it a little lower than the online bulk places do it and allow a slim profit that would cover the distributers ammo or something. Kind of figured I wasnt probably the first one around here to think of it though so figured would mention it and see what all I was missing.
