    The Blackbird is soooo bad ass, to bad they're all retired now. The one in those pics is a trainer with a dual cockpit.

    Cruising speed was Mach 3.2

    I think NASA still uses a couple. As far as speed goes, cruising speed is mach 3...in our cars it is 70...but we all know we don't cruise wide open, so it would be cool to see the Blackbird opened up:D

    NASA had 2 and one of those was a trainer, but their program ended in 2001. These planes were massively expensive to fly, plus the bonehead government forced Lockheed to destroy all the tooling for these planes long ago.

    These things are fascinating - they were built with titanium airframes, and the titanium was bought from the Soviet union" at the height of the Cold War. Alot of effort was expended to keep the Soviets in the dark as to the true purpose of the titanium! :D
