I was looking for some 7.62x39 ammo last night and was shocked, 1st. sportsmans guide is sold out of wolf, they had remington and other high end but ~$600 for 1000 rnds OUCH.

Cabella actually has some left, probably not for long though $150 for 500 rnds.

Cheaperthan dirt has 1000 rnds of wolf for $400!!!

They also have this posted on their site

Thanks for the info. I had been looking too last night. I just got the 500 rd box from Cabella's. It probably won't last too long.

[BSf]What crap. I love (hate) this excuse "Possible drastic limitations..."

Give me a break. The price increase would be justified if these 'possible drastic limitations' appeared, but unless|until that happens it is simple price gouging.

It seems that anyone and everyone selling firearms|ammo is going nuts assuming Obama is going to ban everything and have already raised their prices.

I have no idea what he will or will not do, but I do know that the 'potential' future limitations does not warrant a price increase today.

I am just adding these asshats to my boycott list of suppliers I won't ever buy from if I can avoid it.

These folks are acting like they are already ditching illegal wares.

    Yup. Generic has it right.

Only in America, folks! Just another day in the land of consumerism and the disposable dream.

Nevermind that silly stuff about "Supply and Demand" -- BHO will fix it for us!

There is a balance between the these two extremes wherein lies the truth. I have come to respect Brokers opine, despite the bitter overtones. I tend to be a bit more optimistic, generally, but then again; I have enough ammunition to last me the rest of my life and the determination to see that it will exceed my life by at least a short while.[patr]

I am almost there myself. What I find really interesting is that prices of reloading components, ie primers, powder, and projectile have not experienced the dramatic price increases that factory ammo has.

What would be funny is if all or most of Obammy's sensible gun control proposals are shot down by both the House and Senate. If this happens, this could very well put these extreme price gougers out of business because of this very shaky economy. If people don't have the cash, they will not be able to buy anything no matter how bad and how much they would be willing to pay for such items.

I rather doubt the S&D is responsible here. I think it simple opportunism. There *are* honorable vendors who seems to remain stocked and selling ammo at fair prices, but many are claiming shortages and raising prices (though I doubt their supplier has raised prices).

Ever since Obama won the election there has been price gouging overnight. "Get it while you can" has folks without a lifetime supply willing to pay whatever they have to in order to get a case or two.

If one place can sell for 30 cents per round why are some selling for $1 per round? Because they can.

Just like you, I've found plenty of suppliers that are very reasonable and don't gouge me at all. Sometimes I have to wait 4 weeks or more for product to come in because of a very high demand, but that's part of the process right now.

Supply and Demand can't be discounted as untrue just because of simple opportunistism. Laws of Economics are well-tested and difficult to refute because of the hundreds of years they have been applied.

WE are the Demand side -- don't buy from greedy price gougers (if you can identify them) -- they're only hurting themselves anyway. No one would buy AR magazines from me because I'd ask at least 4x what I paid for them (my 5 pieces is hardly worth bringing up). Call me "greedy" if you want.

Last I checked, there is a shortage of product that I would like to buy: AR, .223, .308, FAL, and all misc equipment associated. This will affect prices just like the world's crop shortages will affect food prices eventually.

I was talking to E.L. yesterday and he said that the Wal-marts in his area were sold out of ammo. I just happened to be going to my local super Wally World yesterday afternoon so I went back to the sporting good dept. and OMG, I have never seen the ammo shelves so empty! The only thing they had was a couple of boxes of .270, some .22-220, and some .240. A handful of .410 and even less 12 Ga. Absolutely no pistol ammo of any kind. No .223, .308, 7.62X39, X54, No 30-06.
I was talking to a guy working there and he said that within hours of stocking the shelves it is all gone.
This is just in the last month or so, it wasn't like that the last time I was in there. Not many folks around here buy ammo at WM it is too expensive. I am guessing that the usual suppliers are drying up and now the scared rabbits are turning to WM as a last resort.
I am glad I stocked up over the years. Now is not the time to be trying to stock up.
I am fortunate to be like Seacowboys, I have enough ammo to last my lifetime, and enough ammo to make sure my lifetime lasts.

Here in the Reno area, Wall of China Mart is the cheapest place to buy ammo, hands down. Over the last 2 months it has been increasingly difficult to get the more popular calibers.

I started stocking up last year -- just little-by-little as could be afforded. Every two weeks at payday, I'd buy one box of 20 (say .308) and a box of .22lr (550 rnds) if I had extra money. There's not enough to last a lifetime, but I'm glad I did what I did.

The past few months I've been getting supplies for reloading -- even that is drying up like a Nevada pond.

I am not having problems finding ammo here but the price is up some. Reloading supplies are in stock at the gun shops.

The last few times I went into Sportsman's Warehouse and Wallyworld in my area the ammo sections looked like a ghost town except for the odd ball ammo. Worked a gun show a couple weekends ago and there was a 100 yard line to get in when it opened. The majority of the people went to the only major ammo seller there and bought out all the black gun ammo before the end of the line got in, amazing! I also already have my lifetime supply on hand that was purchased from the late 80's until this year. Still wanted to by some more shotgun slugs for my newest gun and just looked, all the places I looked at before are "Out Of Stock". SH*T
