Well I got my temporary scope mount and folding stock today so put it togeather and tried it out off the back pourch today but havent gotten it to the range yet to have measured ranges.
The range for the targets is about 30 yards or just a bit more. But first here are the pics of the AK before and after the add ons.

Yeah its actualy an inch or 2 longer which is good for me and the recoil on that one is light enouph it isnt bad at all, there is a bit more recoil with it than with the reagular one but still not bad at all. Some time when I have a bit more money will most likely go ahead and get the Romy folding stock thats metal and more authentic but figured this at least put one on it for now.
I stil like the looks of the wood furniture better but like the ability to fold it up so not sure which will spend more time on it.

Oh and I dont really look at it as 'pimping it out', the add ons are for practicality, I hit better with the scope and the folder so can fold it up if needed for ease of carry and such.

Unless you are a tanker, paratrooper, or mechanized infantry what purpose does it serve? The folding stock was originally concieved to accomidate those types of forces, now the collapsable stock that could almost be passed off as ergonomic/practical for multiple shooters, or to compensate for gear and or clothing in cooler environments. Otherwise you IMHO are being horribly disrespectful to a perfectly servicable weapon that wreaked of classic style and charm before you "bubba'd" it out with that silly stock and top cover. I would consider being more respectful and if you insist on scoping the rifle to "compensate" for poor eyes I would reccomend the side rail mount professionally installed by a local smith. Then purchase the soviet POSP scope, or Kobra reddot. All of which can be found here http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/cgi-bin/kowstore.cgi?user_action=link&link=mainpage

To sit it on the truck seat with the barrel pointed toward the front of the truck and not at someone.

Fold it, sling it diagonally across your back with the sling over your left shoulder, and the barrel at your right hip. Stick your right arm through the sling, and put it over your head with the pistol grip down, and the charging handle won't dig into your back. Tighten the sling as much as needed to keep the weapon from flopping around. You can work, climb a tree stand, drag a deer through thick woods, anything you need to do with both hands free.

To be able to carry it in a 30" long duffle bag, so it doesn't look like a gun.

To be able to carry it by your truck seat, between the seat and the door, and still be able to get it out easily.

To be able to sling it over your truck seat, sling on the seat, rifle over the back, muzzle safely on the floor, and the rifle not be in anyone's way.

To get it in a scabbard on your dirt bike without the butt getting in the way of a rapid dismount or interfering with the bars.

I will never do this, Snow and mud and small pebbles have ruined a few barrels outwest.

It would fit in the bottom of MM's SHTF shopping cart with a folding stock.

Well several of the points above are correct, but the main ones for me would be that it can be dropped in a duffel bag or pack out of sight and also that I normaly wear a full length duster so if was to have to bug out on foot or something then it could even be out of sight under the coat. It also dose make it so it can be set in the seat of the truck pointed forward or back between people if out in the fields and such.
I make sure my guns are always well cleaned and maintained but I dont own museam or show pieces, I own tools, and for me this just increases the options for the functionality of that particular tool.

Momma always said "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say a word" That about sums up my thoughts on it.

The scope mount is just a temp untill can get the better one and figure when money permits will get the reagular Romy folding stock that would be better than the one got now. These are just the temporary options.

Well the other scope mount arived today so onece I have the time and get the stuff togeather to put the mount togeather and the modifications it has to have done then will probably go ahead and switch over to it, then as money permits will most likely put the Romy folding stock on it (unless I can find a way for the wood stock that came with it to fold) so it will be a lot closer to 'pure', which I find nice and all also just not as escential as some.
