My Detector sometimes alerts LASER when I'm leaving my house. I'm at the bottom of a mile long Dirt road with almost no neighbors. THink someone is using a LASER mic on one of my front windows? This has happened around 6-7 times. No alarm systems around.

If it IS a remote listening device, an easy low tech way to defeat it is to tape a....hmmm...how to say this...ummm..."feminine solo pleasure device"...to the window and turn it on when discussing private matters....a remote listening device will only hear the rattling against the window and not the sounds behind it.

Lasers arey not real effective against just an outside window, you hear leaves rustling and trucks passing interior sounds are pretty buried but if you shoot a styrofoam cup half full of water on the table they rock; they are line of sight too so you could just take a good walk around...Or bring the detector inside and check your windows.can't guarantee it would find it, depends on the frequency (wavelength).It is alight (lidar) detector? microwave ( plain rf radar) signals bounce around a bit. Since cell phones are designed to be used in public the courts have ruled that there is "no expectation of privacy" to a cell phone conversation thus it can be monitored WITHOUT a warrant.
