I got the idea for this sewing kit from watching a documentary about a Sammii reindeer herder.

We don't have many reindeer around here so i used a sheep bone instead.

Very easy to make and fits on your belt.

I just cut the bone to the size i wanted and scraped out the marrow,i then boiled the bone to clean it.

I cut a couple of pieces of birch wood and drilled holes for the leather cord to go through and glued one at the top.

I then cut a square of leather and joined that to the bottom piece of wood.

The picture should explain it better.

a little very amateurish scrimsure work with natural lead for the colour and then sealed with varnish.

    That's awesome!

Now I guess I've gotta' go kill something so that I, too, can have an uber-cool sewing kit. [winkthumb]

Nah, just take one of CC's trophy bucks off the wall and rout out an antler.

Apollo ~ the Wonder Dog - gets a fresh marrow bone every week so I have enough polished clean bones laying around to supply most of the SM members. Some of them might be a little big for a sewing kit though LOL

Well done, I like the solder touch in the 'scrimshaw'.

    Very nicely made kit that.
Compact and very rustic using natural materials.
