I always run spy bot and ad aware together as they often fiond different things. One thing I have noticed with Spybot is that the frequency of definitions updates is getting farther and farther apart. They also don't tell you when they have a new version. I'm currently running version 1.4 but I had to go tho their site to realize I was 2 updates behind. I've also noticed the past 3 months or so, that spybot hasn't found anything. Nothing at all. About that time I had upgraded AdAware to plus which gave me a real time blocker rather than an after the fact scan. Well, after that ringing endorsement for SpyBot, Here's the link.
