I just bought, Primitive Wilderness Living & Survival Skills: Naked into the Wilderness. Seems pretty comprehensive. pictures look old and are hard to see what's going on, but there's a lot in the book. You can find it pretty cheap too.

A couple that come to mind that I have and enjoy:

    Hawke's Green Beret Survival Manual

    Wilderness Survival for Dummies

+1 for Hawke's book. It is a nice book (i.e., hardback, quality pages, small footprint) and is not written like a manual. Some of those military-type manuals are dry. It would be a good addition to any collection.

Cool, thanks for the tips. I didn't know there were actually for Dummy books about survival.

Yeah Ajax, even though the title is funny and folks kind of laugh about the dummy books I have found it amazingly informative. "Wilderness Survival For Dummies." In it you will find survival techniques to stay alive on land or at sea, basic navigation skills, how to find water and food, and a whole chapter on signaling and techniques to get rescued. I think you would like it!

Newbie here. Try How To Stay Alive In The Woods, by Bradford Angier. Good, timeless info.
