    Good post WG, being an aviant, I have to depend on knowing what the weather is doing more so than the average person. I can also add as I didn't see it in your blog, if the winds are from the SW, a front approaches, the greater the speed, the closer the front. If the winds are from the NW, the front has passed and as the front moves, the winds will slow. This is a generality for N. America and doesn't take into account occluded fronts and the fact that Mother Nature has her period once a month as well.
