I am looking for quality sleeping systems for the family. I have a few questions. First does anybody have any information pros or cons about these bags? Are they a good system? I had been looking at the military modular system that seems pretty good. Can I sleep outside with the wiggys in the rain like a I can the military system, or are they meant for in a tent? I am not backpacking per say and these would be a last ditch item if I were out in the woods so an overly light system is not necessary. I guess I am just looking for general information and votes about whether this bag or something else would be a good bug out bag. I guess if you have time just sell it to me or not...Thanks for hearing me ramble...

Some of the best IMHO. We have them here. Don't remember the model right now. Were purchased years back.

For me, the price of the Wiggy's is what has kept me away. I have used the military MSS for years and have had no problem. The heart of the MSS is the Gore-Tex bivy bag.

I got the wiggy's sleep system 5 years ago. I use the outer bag for a bed comforter. It's never been cold enough to use both bags at once. The bags are heavy but the quality is top notch. Buy nice or buy twice

I use the Recon sleeping bags myself.
I cannot compare with Wiggy's, but just from researching it looks like the Recon line is made from better materials, they are lighter and have all the features I need. Also, they are sorted into rating criteria by climate so there's no second guessing. Used the Recon bags for many years, no reason to look elsewhere. Prices are a little more than Wiggy's, but not by much.

My problem is that most all of my stuff was bought for and in cold country. Since becoming the token Yankee down here no way do I need a sub zero bag, thermals, parkas ect. Some Items like boots will adapt, but others will just sit in storage to be replaced with lighter gear.

Perhaps you could trade gear with northern monkeys.
