13 Original Colonies Amateur Radio Contest

    Starting Sunday 01 July 2018 and running for 7 days is the only amateur radio contest I ever enter. The 13 Colonies event gives one the chance to contact contest operators in each of the 13 original colonies of the US as well as a Great Britain station. They award a nice certificate as well. It's a great way to find and communicate over the airwaves, and never have I worked a finer and more gracious group. If you're on HF, give it a try.

    After three tries, I've yet to get all 13 or the Brits. Will be trying again this year.

    Got them all two years ago, missed the Brits last year, and it looks like band conditions will make it a challenge this year.

    Go to www.dxsummit.fi , it has people spotting them and makes it somewhat easier...

    Got all 13 and WM3PEN bonus but couldn't bring Great Britain out of the noise.

    Spin the dial and pounce got me just 6 with no bonuses at all. In my defense, I did not spend much time trying. Lazy, methinks. We have one guy in the club that swept the board on phone, and last I heard he was trying to duplicate the feat with digi.
