What is old is new again....and what is new can be made better with refinement.

It's the time of year to set these traps to work .

Much as hate it I had to resort to using poison, the rats and mice were taking over and no traps were working.
They are getting smarter here and much as I've tried they figure a way around eery thing or ignore the bait .
meat, peanut butter , cheese, rice , left overs. black olives, once they discover a trap is linked to the food they leave it alone . they do seem to teach one another . The poison however has worked and ai rarely see evidence of rodents any more.
I had a problem with ground squirrels stealing the chickens eggs , and having tried every thing but poison, I provided them a rotten egg and that cured them .and haven't seen them sense.

One video i watched had equal portions of flour, salt, and plaster of paris. They go for the flour, the salt makes them thirsty and drives them to drink a lot of water...which causes the plaster of paris to block their intestinal system. It's non toxic...and a home made solution from easily found materials...the recipe can be played around with to find a formula that is attractive to the rodents....but the salt and plaster of paris are essential components.

The lethality of this trap would be improved by embedding a saw blade in the upper bow.

Got an old clapped out vacuum cleaner? Convert it to a mousetrap.

the Baobab trap could probably be fashioned from found objects...scaled up, it may work for larger critters.

Those are great. I like the rolling log version better, but that is just a personal preference issue. Where was the internet and this video when I really needed it back in 77-78. I was always helping my grandfather 'clean out' the garage and barn. This would of given me a lot more play time as a kid.
Thanks for the video Chello! (y) (y) :5s:
