You tube had a report on a company based in Grants Pass Oregon that has announced that they are moving to Arizona. While they were founded in Grants Pass, they have now grown to at least a regional company. The difference in tax rates, with the saving in Arizona, regulations, climate charges, etc, for all practical purposes forces the move. The governor, very liberal, is very upset by the loss of both tax income and well paying jobs. Her answer is the state needs to pass laws that keeps companies from leaving and punishes them for laying people off.

This is a very good study of one isolated company and its impact on an isolated workforce and real estate market. What has been happening in the politically correct states with their progressive rules and regulations is hard to quantify. Making it a limited study in a isolated market allows the real problem to be quantified. The first effect will be the loss to the region of about 1600 plus direct jobs and perhaps thousands of secondary jobs. It is expected to double the unemployment rate from about 7% to 14% and cut the tax payment to the area by about $20 million. The city is already cutting infrastructure as it is a good part of the budget.

The basic source of the problem is that the progressive state needs the money to fund its policies and to satisfy its liberal base, must require rules that penalize businesses and charge for the costs of climate change. While the state of Oregon has done so, other states haven't. The Democratic answer to this problem is to make the changes federal and prevent the moving to more favorable states by making the changes federal. Thus there would be no advantage in moving. Might put some companies out of business, but we know what is best for you.

Strange the video is no longer available... Yeah, it is not only the loss of Tax revenue from that company that the state will lose but they will also have to pay out unemployment to the1600 folks that loss their jobs and all the tax revenue from those individuals since they probably will not be paying taxes given they are out of work, so it is a triple whammy or more. Typical response by Democratic government. Frankly, I hope they go through with it at the state level, give them the rope to hang themselves. They have zero chance to even get it to a vote at the federal level.

I think if you click on the watch on you tube it will come up. That usually shifts it to their base and they can get "credit" for it.
