    Hmmm...think I'll just stay with 5.7x24...errr...22 wmr.
I know, lower velocity, rimfire vs centerfire and related reliability....
More practical for me and much cheaper to shoot.

Yeah I sold all my 5.7x28 when I could get $75 to $180 a box for it, but I have a Qt ziplock bag crammed full of 5.7 brass.

Yup, the ammo is the best and worst part of 5.7x28

Yet it is near perfect for conceal carry.

Reloading it sucks too. When ammo was $25 to $35 a box it wasn't worth reloading.
I don't think it's a great concealed carry round unless you want to carry a Beretta 92 sized gun.

5-seven is Half the weight or less.

with twice the penetration of a 9mm and loads just like a AR 15 with 20 rounds.

    So what is penetration?
Does one really want to blow clean holes thru the BG or leave the lead inside his DA?

What it is is the ability to make more holes in the BG to let the BG leak more.

Yeah the FN made fiveseven is like a toy compared to the metal on metal Beretta.
    That's why I didn't mention the weight.
I have no doubt about the 5.7x28 from a handgun. It's about like 22mag from a rifle. My step brother killed plenty of big maine deer with a 22mag rifle.
Which it's perfectly legal to hunt deer in Maine with 22wmr rifle.

Well this is a Military round and if you want to use it then you have to understand it was made to reduce the load of a combat solider facing others with combat armor.

I like it for its reduction in weight. I carry IWB in a cross-draw rig for winter and heavy clothing which was also the design.

Of course it was designed with a round you will never be able to buy.

It was designed with a plastic that will not stick to your skin in sub zero temps.

When you have full penetration ,,, blowing g out the back,,, it sometimes pulls the innards out the back ,, that's cooler than just adding a few extra ounces to the perps bodyweight. JMO.

Ah, Guts are cool and a tripping hazard for the BG.

I saw federal 5.7 ammo the other day at a gun shop for $47 a box.
As least it starting to come back. It will be a long time before it's back to $25 to $30 a box.

9mm kills the body, 45 kills the soul and 5.7x28 reencarnates you as a toilet, in a women's prison, in Thailand.

That's a lot of manufacturers making a lot of guns for a cartridge a lot of people said would go no where.

I remember back in the mid 80’s I read in the International Defense Review that the service load was being developed with cast zinc BT spritzers somewhat like the German arcane zinc bullets for late war 9mm high performance loads fired in the MP40. Later, they started testing plastic core mild steel jacketed slugs because of some environmental reasons.
I am guessing that perhaps one could make or purchase a small casting pot for this purpose and custom steel molds. I am guessing that these loads could be quite effective. Just saying.
