This video shows some of the construction techniques of bamboo for building a duck house. Uses a machette, saw and drill. Could use lashing instead of drill and bamboo instead of twine and wire as well. Just easier and faster. Good scenery and well done but slow if you just want facts. Views are on a river in what I think is Vietnam. Method of paddling boat uses strength of legs and facing forward while paddling. New to me but might be old hat to you. Time wasting video, not quick and to sticking to details, but to me a very enjoyable video and an example of how little it takes in the simple world to build what you need. House and deck are built in the same way, just different scale. Little details are the fun part, while you can measure, she often picks a pattern piece and cut all the rest to it. Fits, but don't know what size really is. Thatch roof with palm leaves, but take some of leaves and twist into a rope in order to lash rest down. Not her first rodeo. And while she may lead the primitive life, she has her pleasures, electric drill, led lights, etc. Nice to see what would be nice to put away for comfort in first few years. Cutting and stripping the cables with the machette are indeed a class act. And while she is using the bamboo and boat, a few miles away are modern houses, bulldozers, grid lights, modern cars. and 90 % would be dead in 30 days without modern technology. Yet she wouldn't probably miss it unless she got sick. Notice that even her garden is on a float and can move about the lake and I love the bamboo "raised beds or containers".. You can buy 12 v lights and a 12 v battery charger for the drill and charge it when the sun is shining bright. A slow video. two in fact show the girl making a metal and concrete boat. I enjoyed it, her welding was bad, no attempt made to really achieve any real form or planning in the construction but it didn't come out too bad. Looks like it has a lot of carrying capacity but might be tender when lightly loaded. Weight isn't a problem as long as slow speed and don't need to take it out of the water. Shows how little you really need to make something work and it could last 50 years of use. Noticed that most of small boats were concrete and steel. Bigger ones were all steel.
