Looking into getting a good fero or mag rod of some sort. From the research I've done so far the Aurora seems like a really good product.

Anyone used more than one and have some advice? Anyone know how many strikes tou can get from one of these unit?

I like the Blast Match too but one thing that concerns me is the moving parts, it seems like it would be more prone to malfunction that some of the others although I'm sure it woul dbe easy to rig so you could still use it.

I bought a set of waterproof containers and matches but I am looking for a few different options.

I'm thinking about keeping some lighters in my bag too, will a simple siplock work to store them or do they leak? I may heat seal it in a plastic bag to protect it more anyway.

Any other methods or devices I may not know about that work well. My main concern is realiable, and one metric crap ton of fires without worry.

I use a Blastmatch, lighters, coco-bolo (firepiston), magnesium sticks, ferro rods, and a magnifying glass. Knowledge of a bowdrill and other bushcraft methods are also important to know. Below I have linked just a few of the numerous threads here at the Survival Monkey on fire starting and tools that are used:
