“I can’t even visualize how they managed to snap all that shit together and keep the rain out. What are the chances you have a picture stashed away somewhere?” I’ve seen that in manuals, but not personally done it. Something like this I believe. -> http://up.picr.de/1157462.jpg Found the manual reference, FM 21-15, Care and Use of Individual Clothing and Equipment, January 1966. Towards the top under “Six-Man Tent”. -> http://www.hardscrabblefarm.com/vn/tent-pitching.html

Fascinating. I had a copy of that edition at one time, and don’t remember that illustration. Of course, I had the ‘66 edition when I was in grade school, and that was a L-O-N-G time ago….

“Is Lyme Disease bacterial in origin? ” It is caused by bacteria Borrelia why its called Borreliose in Germany. It is quite common meanwhile in my region but only treated with antibiotic if there is really an infection diagnosed (there is a blood test available). Mostly it is detected by the reddish discoloration (which appears quite often but not always). It is not given prophylactic but if there is a discoloration visible, antibiotic are prescribed wihout additional tests (at least this was the case for my son when he caught it last year). I rather ensure that the biests are never survive longer than a few hours by regular checks then taking antibiotics again and again. And I agree, it seems like you knew what you are taking about when you mentioned the time frame, [IMG]

Yeah, the standard course of treatment is doxycycline. It’s a very weird disease as it’s technically bacterial but the bacteria go thru several life cycles over time, basically if you miss it early they become almost immune to the abx. If you really want to dig into the topic, lymedisease.org has excellent resources from treatments, to symptoms to co-infections. Lyme is one of those diseases that seem endemic but we don’t have a ton of research into. Another interesting topic is the book “Bitten”by Kris Newby. It talks about how Lyme maybe a biomed warfare related disease.

Great, just what I need is more reading to add to the list. Definitely will check out the Newby book though. Thanks for the heads up!

The Reluctant Partisan and Forging the Hero have been on my mind”going to get to them” book pile for a while. I just started them in the last week or so. Holy crap. Good stuff. I’m pretty amazed. Thank you for such high quality material…..Not “on my mind”, but “on my going to get around to reading it book pile”

Thanks, buddy. I’m pretty proud of all the books so far published, but FTH has to be my personal favorite (although the new one might steal the spotlight in my favor!)

Read the rest, and add your own questions for next week!
