So what’s the answer? Rebuild and protect US manufacturing or free trade agreements? Or some balance in between. I thought one of the issues was other countries tariffs on US exports. How do you balance cheap imported goods versus rebuilding here to produce our own shit? We can’t have it both ways obviously. I don’t think anyone has the answers. We can speculate at best by historical impacts of both sides and previous policies. And hopefully apply that and see what happens then adjust. It will take generations, I’d guess to rebuild to US manufacturing independence. And the US is pretty short sighted and we are subjected to the whims of who’s in office and policies of other nations( who are in it for the long game). The big one that bothers me is reliance on countries for cheap goods that are historically our adversaries. There is no “right” answer, as far as I can tell. My point wasn’t that Trump’s proposed tariffs were bad or good, but rather, that they were almost certainly going to hurt, before they helped, if they ever do help. The argument has—convincingly–been made that the reshoring of US manufacturing is actually an impossibility, for a host of reasons, a dearth of raw materials available domestically, not being the least of those. ——————————————————– RE: bowsaw – a great tool that is easy to use (and use well). If there is a blade cover, use it for transport. Walking with a bowsaw AND not paying attention to the swing of the blade can be painful (ask me how I know… LOL). Anybody who’s never cut themselves with their own bowsaw…hasn’t used a bowsaw very much. —————————————————- I hope you continue to include your insights pertaining to the topic of raising feral children. That and the little anecdotes from your day to day that serve as real world examples of building frith/tribe. I find great value in these.
