The guy next to meat the range the other day was shooting a Canik 55 TP9 9mm pistol.

It is a Century imported from Turkey in many ways another Glock knockoff.

I let the guy shoot a few rounds with my real Glock 30 and I shot a few from the Canik.

The Canik seems like a decent pistol solid function and it goes for around $300 so they will probably sell well but a Turkish Glock knockoff does not fit into my plans.

I wouldn't call it a Glock knockoff -and marketing competition is good because it can help keep prices lower for the consumer. Besides, Glock already has the big contracts and many years of proven service. The biggest contender otherwise has been Springfield with their XD line, which I personally favor, and I am thankful for competing companies continuing to make great firearms.

I like the "Fires without magazine" imprinted on the left side.

I've heard nothing but good things about these pistols. On the other hand, that doesn't really mean much. I'd like to get ahold of one to try it out before I recommend it to my friends.

The design seems to be almost directly copied from Walther's P99 series of pistols. IMI/IWI/(whatever they call themselves today/Kahr Arms) is making a direct copy of the Walther P99 also, and it wasn't anywhere near as expensive as the original Walther/Umerex.

I'd still like to get my hands on one, because the different models of Walther P99's out there, the only one I liked was the QA (Quick Action). Their DAO (P990) I could not stand to shoot more than a few rounds because of the draconianly heavy and long trigger pull.
