I just completed this field knife. The handle is Chestnut from "Morton Bay" the plantation that good friends Heny Ford and Thomas Edison co-owned. A bit of my scratching on it.

The guy that is getting it is an Elk hunting guide. He will use it as hard as he has the stag one he's had for nearly 10 years.
Well, it is damn well gorgeous! The engraving is beautiful. What steel is it? And, how did you get those patterns on the blade? If that's not a trade secret...
Its a mix of 15n20 and 1075 in the steel. I hand cut the grooves then forged it to shape very close so it upsets or transfers the off setted grooves from side to side in the steel.
Beautiful blade as always Jerry. This is a little custom I commissioned from an Australian maker as a gift for a friend. To say she was taken with it would be an understatement.
