Working on 4 traditional Saddlehorn pattern folders for a guy and his brothers for Christmas. He chose the handle materials. First one is engraved, now start the rest of em.
Beautiful job. Thank you for sharing. Pleasant break from the real world idiocy in the media. Love to see your work.
Geez, those are beautiful! Did you do the engraving yourself? What type of steel did you use? They make so many now that is difficult to remember them all and their properties.
. Yes, i do my own engraving. For the damascus blade i used 15n20 and 1075. For the bolsters a 416 stainless.
Now that's funny ,, but I have to agree with ya on that ,, I can do a lot of stuff ,, but that kind of art ,, is not in my bag"O"tricks ,,
I suck at art of any kind. What you are seeing is a hard headed determination. Growing up, if you had time to draw then you had time to work more. So never being around it i decided i wanted to learn. I spent 5 days with an old Spanish silversmith to learn control of my hands. I have to practice drawing each leaf structure until i can do it. A single leaf can take a month, see a new leaf.. spend time. Even the dang curls takes over and over practice. If you need something roped or shot and skinned, no thinking to it.
