The film, 'Hangmen Also Die' is a fictionalised version of events loosely based on the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, who was wounded in the attack when hand grenade fragments penetrated through his clothing and seat into his internal organs: he died 8 days later of septicemia. The film is more an example of war-time propaganda by Hollywood, than a manual on how to protect and how not to protect intelligence agents. The actual historical record of the Heydrich assassination and its aftermath is far more fascinating and instructive than a Hollywood wartime film-noir pot boiler. Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich - Wikipedia
Reinhard Heydrich was an absolutely clinical, cold-blooded maniac.... he also chaired the Wannsee Conference... Sir Kenneth Branagh's portrayal of Heydrich in 2001's "Conspiracy" is worth the watch....
