Had our Marine Corpe birthday lunch today. I know, the Birthday was yesterday but they are a bunch of old guys with early bed times.. This year we had a fellow Marine who is 93years old and had spent seven years as a POW of the Japanese. He had been a China Marine prior to the war and he got picked up during the Jap invasion of China and put in a labor camp working in a coal mine.. Two years prior to the U.S. entering the war. He is over six foot and came out of the camp at the end of the war at 105 pounds. At 93 he is still driving and walking without any apparent difficulties. Was an honor to meet him.and he is one of those that I am humbled before! Then there was the the gal that related the story, with tears in her eyes, of how her mother and aunt where prisoners of the Japanese at the same time as George, and interned in a camp just a couple miles from him. And they all end up in this small town..Degrees of separation.
