I am firmly stuck in the past. Believe very strongly in Jesus Christ and God, very much less in how that has been modified by individuals to create formal religion. Still prefer the Geneva Bible, sometimes feel old enough to have read it as it was published. Have little to say about the modern up to date translations. Feel like King James had a little too much input in that version. While they were translating it from the best sources they could find, as had the group in Geneva, they had to have known that the reason they were doing so was that King James, who had used the Geneva Bible, was unhappy about some of its details. This in my mind created a Bible with some of King James views, rather than strict observance of the details in the original source materials. This is strictly a personal viewpoint and is not meant as a critique of any version of the Bible.
ya I see where this is an issue... have a copy of the Geneva and of course KJV as well as others... interesting reading them for content... there are differences... the BOOK does say there will be a time when NO Bibles will be found... hmmm... leftist???
Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to those that obey Him. The Holy Spirit is my teacher in scriptures and knowing God's will. My faith is in God, Jesus Christ and his Holy Spirit. Just think how different things might have been if Adam had consulted God during his temptation.
My problem with organized religion is it is no different than any corporation. To me god is personal and I don't need a spokes person I can talk to god on my own
