I just caught up on reloading several years worth of 380acp brass. So I have a pile of live 380 laying around. But only have 1 gun that uses 380. It's a sig and takes heal clip euro style mags so it's not like it's going to break any time soon but it doesn't chew through ammo either.
I didn't realize how much brass I had collected. 380 brass is so tiny 200 to 300 brass in a zip lock don't take up much room and it doesnt look like a lot of brass, then stash several zip locks in a few places and you have an infestation before you know it.

So how about that hi point 380 carbine?
    It's cheaper than dirt.
Is it some what reliable and can it hit a bunny at 30 yard?
I'm setting the bar low since it looks like gun brokers ridiculously high prices put the cost of the high point at around $150.

If not maybe I will just get another sig.
If ricochets count too, I can reliably hit a bunny size target at 20 yd with the sig and it doesn't malfunction unless I'm developing or trying to use lower power plinking loads.
There is a guy near me who shoots his 9mm high point carbine like every weekend and he seems to like it.

Can't say much one way or the other regarding the .380 but the 9mm version I have has been reliable and reasonably accurate.

Lots of folk malign Hi Points, likely because they are not beauty queens and they're cheap. At the price it's hard to go wrong.

I can't say about the 380 but my 9 and 45 are accurate and reliable. The lifetime warranty can't be beat either. Of course this was before the terrible boating accident.

I will likely get a 45acp carbine at some point too. I was probably going to pay out the ass for a marlin camp carbine, because it uses 1911 mags.

I will never own a Hi-Point. But good luck with that.

For $150 or so it's pretty hard to go wrong.

Oh and I found another pile of 380 brass and I'm pretty sure I loaded every single sub 100gr 9mm projectile I had.

I had a friend that owned a gun shop he called me up one day and told me to stop by and take a gun home and shoot it and then come buy it it was the hii point 9mm carbine I did just what he said I have owned 4or 5 over the years they shoot really good I never had a jam or problem with the ones I had.

A poorly engineered/built firearm that shoots doesn’t make it good. It’s kinda like the Yugo cars. They drove, but they were garbage and of course long gone. I also don’t like that HP knows their products are more likely to end up in the wrong hands than any other manufacturer but do nothing about it. Don’t even get me started on them plastering $100 bills all over their wares as another “marketing” campaign.

Hi-appoints have the fastest “time to crime” rate of any firearm manufacturer. That’s a fact.

Nope, I’ll never own one. And there are better options in that price point. SD9VE, SCCY and Taurus all make better guns in that $200 range.

Pretty hard to go wrong? With substandard finishes, poorly made frames, a slide that could be used to drive piles? Shoot their metal pieces look like they were made in someone’s garage with a dull saw and a grinder out of pot metal.

Okey dokey. Again, people can like and own whatever they want. I’m just saying that I personally will never own one. A poorly made tool may do the job, but it doesn’t make it a good tool in my eyes. :)

I've been thinking about getting a 9mm carbine (Take Down) made by Ruger I figure if nothing else it's a fun gun, cheaper than shooting the 5.56s and the wife would love it. I definitely will purchase one if they make a integrated suppressor/barrel for it like they did for their 10/22 Take Down.

Does ruger make a 380 carbine?
As far as 9mm I will probably get the bretta carbine since it takes 92 mags and I actually like my 92fs a lot.

Aside from the slide they sound like most of the AK47 rifles ever made.
I don't defend high point. Never heard anything good about their hand guns and everyone that's had one of their carbines hasn't hated it.
I got a high point 40 from my dad's estate, I let my sister keep it. So it's probably been recovered from a crime scene or is evidence some where.

I love my 9mm Hi-point carbines, fun to shoot and pretty accurate.

@Brokor has a good video on the extended mag mod....somewhere here or on U-tuber.

I also have a couple of .45 Hi-point pistols.... damn thing's are accurate as hell.

Yes the Hi-points are clunky, not of the best construction, but they do shoot well enough and are cheap. I bought mine with the intention of either being spare rifles/pistols post-shtf or to kit out other survivors that join the team. Would I trust my life with one as a daily carry, no, but they fit the job and budget for future needs.

Anyone ever chronograph a 380 carbine?
Since it's loaded to almost the same mild turn of the century pressure as a 45acp I'm guessing going from a 3.5 to a 16 inch barrel might net +200 feet per second?

If I get one I will probably beat the hell out of it shooting compressed loads of unique, using as a trunk gun, ect.

Hi Point got the name of "getto glock" for a reason. Actually not a bad gun for the money. I'm going to hold out for the Kel Tech sub 2000 in 9mm though.
