I feel shame for my country by the Hong Kong protests.

When I see the Hong Kong protestors wave American flags and hear them sing the American anthem, I start to feel pride that they want to emulate my country. Then I see American protestors carrying Communist flags and chanting the most vile phrases imaginable, while "protesting" the president, police, businesses, or what ever is the flavor of the week.

Now even cop hating leftist are siding with the Hong Kong police and the Chinese government. Maybe it's because the protestors are holding signs asking President Trump for help or maybe it's because they are so enamored with communism.

Even now, other than lobbying my government to pressure the Chinese government, I can't think of any way to directly help the people of Hong Kong. It's truly depressing.

 

They get it - we don't

 

Fact is they Riot to the highest bidder.
I stumbled into a group back in the late 60s.
Not a place for the likes of me in uniform or civvies.

 

Yeah if we had tons of Hong Kong "refugees" the dems would lock down the boarders so fast it would make you motion sick and claustrophobic at the same time.
Kind of like they did after the fall of Saigon.

 

Hong Kong was doomed to go back into China when the Brits pulled out. We didn't do anything about the Tiananmen Square Massacre either, and it is estimated that 10,000 people were killed by the Red Chinese then. China wants Hong Kong along with Taiwan. Just goes to illustrate what happens to a people when they have been disarmed, they become the prey of those who believe that "Political power comes from the barrel of a gun" Mao.

 

Sooner or later we are going to lock horns with China for real. I often wonder if it would be better to get that done and over with sooner, rather than waiting until later. No matter when it plays out there will be consequences and at the rate our Nation is going down the toilet, later might have a lot worse consequences than now.

 

Cousin was at the Chosin Reservoir and was convinced that we should never go to war with China again. Was a medic and part of the group taking in supplies and out wounded with C-47's off the ice. Said we would set up defense point in valley, kill a lot of them, and then you would see hundreds going up the mountains and around you, to spread out for air strike or artillery, but to many to allow them to get behind you, so you would have to pull out again. Didn't seem to need supplies or officers like we were used to, just ants with some rice, a rifle, a few grenades, and winter clothes and equipment that was better suited for the situation than was ours.

 

I am far from a military tactician ,, but I have long heard that China could just bum rush us with people and overtake us to the point that our weapons would have little effect . As T5R , and Duane has said , ,, I do not feel we need to mix it up with China ,, As bad as I do feel about turning our backs on a country asking for our help , what is our obligations , and repurcussions ?? We can not save the world .

 

All those troops would have to be transported across the ocean and it's a guarantee that very few would make it. China is not stupid. They will use other tactics if it gets down to that. All they need to do is to activate what they have planted in the circuit boards they manufacture for virtually every thing from networking equipment to automotive and give us a massive heart attack when there is no power and nothing works. They know our population can't handle loss of modern technology and especially the loss of our power grid. At that point the Yuan becomes the world's reserve country. Worthless dollars means it will take even longer to bring things back up. A 90% die off would be optimistic without a single shot fired.

 

First thing that pops to mind is war. Old wars, new wars, wars for God and country. Think the whole ball or poop began with th tower of Babel, throw is some greed, cheap resource, cheap labor and we got a reason to go to war. Who gives a damn who claims to own what? When you can take it with you when you die, I'll be impressed. I can't even talk to my democrat neighbors, no damned wonder I think we ought to shoot Mexicans, Chinese, Arabs, and Jehovah's witnesses.

 

Kind of ironic that some Americans want to actually throw away their rights while those in other countries are clamoring for those same rights

Are we becoming a nation of spoiled brats who've never learned to appreciate what we have here?

 

Of course the capitalist way is to extract $100 worth of productivity from each toilet cleaner, pay them each a $3 minimum wage, and then pocket the profits.

 

In the Capitalist system they check with the neighbors, find a better deal then quit. They are free to negotiate whether they they provide supplies or simply the labor. They could reinvest their profits to expand their cleaning business and make even more profits by employing other kids in the neighborhood. Those kids in turn could use their own money to form their own startups like lemonade stands or car washes. Or, they could blow it all on candy and whine about the system holding them down, put on black pajamas and go around smashing and vandalizing things. When they aren't busy protesting they gather and speak reverently about how much more fair life would be in Communist and Socialist households where they could "stick it to the man"

Under Communism they would have to work the job they were assigned by the parent for whatever the parent wants to pay. All kids regardless of how many would share the same bed in a tiny room. Dinnertime would consist of standing in a line for several hours only to find out that dinner had been completely distributed before they got to the front. Fortunately there wold be plenty of grass in the front lawn to make their hunger pangs go away If they complained they would be sent to stand in the re-education corner until they were sorry and would then be sent back to work. They would do anything to escape to the Capitalist family.

Under Socialism they would be taxed 70% per the poster, but it would instead enable the Parents to live and eat better than the children who would be forced to choose between eating neighborhood animals or buying rotten meat. Oh, and no toilet paper except as a reward. Complainers would simply disappear. The remaining children would be told "they are at camp". The parents would be busy bitching about how the Capitalist family was intentionally interfering with their household economy because of all those darned kids competitively performing inexpensive efficient labor. Meanwhile the Socialist Family kids try to escape to the Capitalist family and hope to blend in with the other kids and avoid detection.

 

The smart ones escape and join the US Mil to train and learn and return to change the world they lived in.

 

I am actually surprised that Hong Kong has been allowed this long to continue unmolested by the Chinese government. They will be brought into the fold now and nothing can be done. The Brits certainly couldn't have done anything but honor their contractual agreement and turn it back over to the Chinese as they had no wiggle room to do anything else and certainly didn't have the muscle. It's a pity though as we all know how this is going to end...

Unfortunately, I grew up believing in the Fairy Tale that we were the good guys, the white hats and we would assist any country that was trying to throw off oppression...didn't JFK say something like that? Anyway, that's an out and out lie told and sold to you, me and all my classmates to get us to fight and pay for all their wars for market share, political power and wealth which of course never goes to us; we just get to bleed money or blood for it. Lucky us...beat a drum, wave a flag.

Recently, I got on a kick and studied all of America's wars and I can find only two I would say were truly justified: the Revolution and 1812. That's not counting the 'Rebellion of 1861' (incorrectly known as our Civil War) since we were fighting each other and one side was fighting to keep the Union and the other was fighting to leave it - that's pretty justifiable, at least, I think so. All the rest, all of them...power and money, mostly money.

Anyway, we didn't help Georgia when the Russians invaded and they torn the country to pieces nor did we help the Ukraine when the Russians walked in and took Sevastopol and areas of great natural wealth so I am 100% certain that the fairly tale will not come true for Hong Kong.

 

China waited until all the upgrades of infrastructure were complete.
This allowed free trade, export of spies and a calm economy and fleecing of tourist and a type
of nationalization as never seen in our time.

Now they have the islands connected, tunnels and bridges built, super air port and the best harbor in the region.

Time to kick out the capitalistic crew and make a killing and kill those who object.

 

Don't forget the PR value to the West while they were courting us as customers. They needn't have bothered as we are completely unconcerned about buying product mad by their slave labor so long as it's cheap.
