So looking for just opinions about optics! What you have used and what you believe works for yourself! I bought a SIG Tango-MSR LPVO 1-8x24mm. Beautiful optic but wow is it HUGE! I bought it for my 7.5 inch barrel 300 BLK " AR Pistol" it's way to long for the weapon and looks like and optics I need to place on my STG-58. All my fault I did not read how long it was. So I'm asking you all advice. The 300 BLK is not a sniper round I know that and understand that. Maybe I'm asking to much? Looking for a simple design like no battery for it(I would like but can bend ). If it's accurate to 200 yards I would be happy not going to ask a 7.5 inch barrel to do a mile shot. Yet is good in CQB and is not longer than the barrel of the weapon it will be used on even if it's going to be suppressed!
Ah, CQB and Magnified optic seem a bit opposed to each other. How about just mounting a laser. We already know you don't like PA prisms. How about a red dot like a Sig Romeo or a Trijicon Reflex? Also, I hope you are planning on not running subs because sighting it in at like 100 yards in a pistol .. at 200 you'll be aiming for head shots and hitting them in the balls or lower. 125 supers .. well you'll be about 6 inches low.
this is a sig tango 1-10 on a desert tec mdrx in 308. swap barrels to 300 blkout. that is alot of scope for 300 blkout pistol. a little more at home on 308. hey sec monkey good to smell ya!
Maybe one of the Leupold “Hog Buster” scopes (1-4/1-5x maybe). I have 1.5-5x20 VariXIII (old school) on my .375H&H and it is a great optic for in close (and 5x is still more than workable out to several hundred yds).
If it were me using an AR pistol a red dot would likely serve your purposes. Any scope with magnification would be something of a waste of time in my opinion. Even something like the very good Trijicon ACOG would be a bit large and bulky for an AR pistol. With a brace or buttstock making it a SBR would work. However, then you have those pesky registration requirements. An AR pistol isn't necessarily something you are going to have the time to adjust. Nor are you going to be able to achieve the proper and steady platform sight picture to be able to use the capabilities they have. I recently purchased a Vortex SPARC Solar for a PCC and have been very happy with it. They come with a high or low rise mount so you can decide what gives you the best sight picture. For what I got the price was certainly a good point. Everything is very straightforward plus a lifetime warranty. Many of the others like AimPoint, Holosun, Sig or Trijicon make some quality red dot products that are rugged, easy to zero and can take lots of abuse while keeping their zero. Sustained 300 yard shots are achievable if you do your part and know your firearm and optic.
