Other than my mother gave it to me; I don't see much use for a watch in SHTF,

In the future, we will be at war with each other. Making time to get your tasks done is just easier with a dependable method to tell time. You can set alarms, tell time at night or in low light, track enemy movements and note the time they are present in your AO, and coordinate attacks. You can time your pace on a hike or a run and use this to effectively note your escape route. If you overhear an enemy say they are meeting at a certain place at a designated time, you can note this, plan and intercept. Can you get by without a watch? Sure. But, if you have a watch you can do more than just 'get by'. It's a tool, and like any other, it is what you make it. Now, if you are alone in the wilderness with nobody around for many miles, there's not many uses for a watch.

    Your perspective determines your reality.

How do you figure you will cook a three minute egg without a watch?

One thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three.

    You get it.

Or who will really care if it's a 2.50 minute egg or a 3.10 minute egg, I really want mine in an egg muffin anyway.

I can get the eggs; it will be the muffin that is the problem. ;)

Just got to get that broody hen off the nest first. Damn she pecks hard. I'll worry about cooking time later.

@melbo "Marathon JDD (Jumbo)" 0.0 just a hint, its prolly cheaper to wear glasses than to get a bigger time piece for your failing eyesite [lolol]

Yes the muffin is going to be the problem, it may need to be a corn tortilla.

A corn tortilla is no substitute for an English muffin. ;) Homemade bread is reasonable.

Cornbread made in a frying pan is quite good. Then again, I'm Southeron. :)

We get ours stone ground the old fashioned way.. Cooked in a cast iron frying pan served hot with butter and homemade jam; life doesn't get much better.

Slightly but not really off topic here. Does anyone know where I could send a marathon out to be repaired? I broke the crystal (well it is really plastic) on mine. The watch was a gift and means a lot to me so I am not really worried about exceeding its "value"

One of many that google knows. There should also be something about repairs in the owner's manual if you still have it.

Melbo, not to pick you out of the crowd, here. But, sir, are you saying you have a huge watch, to make up for - <cough> inadequacies elsewhere? :D
