It all came about from a neighbors report.

Multiple arrests made following East Texas organized crime investigation

Over 20 people were arrested on Thursday after a multicounty long-term investigation into a string of burglaries and drug sales.

On Feb. 8, a Smith County grand jury returned indictments on 25 people -- 19 for engaging in organized criminal activity, five for theft and one for aggravated assault of a public servant.

As of Thursday afternoon, 21 of those indicted had been arrested, according to a Smith County Sheriff’s Office news release.

An investigation began on Dec. 18. It started when Smith County deputies were dispatched to a suspicious-vehicle call on County Road 1145. Upon arrival, deputies determined the vehicle was reported stolen to Tyler Police Department.

While deputies were on the call, a neighbor flagged them down and told them a man had run into the woods after pushing a motorcycle into a driveway. Deputies found the motorcycle and confirmed it, too, was stolen, according to the news release.

Smith County sheriff’s detectives arrived and spoke with the witness, who provided a physical description of the suspect. A Smith County K-9 deputy located the suspect and detained him. Authorities took this suspect to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for an interview.

Law enforcement officials initiated a long-term investigation into a concerted effort between multiple individuals who were committing thefts, burglaries and drug offenses in multiple counties. That investigation culminated in the indictments and arrests made Thursday.

During the investigation, 19 stolen vehicles valued at $185,000 were recovered. These vehicles were stolen in the Tyler, Smith County, Henderson County, Cherokee County, Van Zandt County and Titus County.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office cleared four residential burglaries during the investigation. The Tyler Police Department cleared one commercial burglary and multiple vehicle burglaries at the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport.

The Titus County Sheriff’s Office cleared two residential burglaries, one commercial burglary and two vehicle burglaries.

Authorities executed 30 search warrants during the investigation, including on residences, vehicles, cellphones and other items.

Officials seized six firearms as well as methamphetamine and cocaine during the investigation.

One subject, Ricardo Delagarza, fled Thursday morning on an all-terrain vehicle off Farm-to-Market Road 314 in Henderson County as officers from multiple agencies tried to arrest him. Delagarza abandoned the ATV and ran into a wooded area.

Tracking dogs from the Texas Department of Corrections were called in. As the dogs were en route, a Smith County Sheriff’s Office detective deployed a drone equipped with an infrared camera. A short time later the drone located Delagarza and he was arrested as the pilot directed officers to his location.

In another break during the investigation, detectives obtained information about a drug dealer identified as Horace Dean III, aka Buster. Detectives learned he possibly was going to deliver a large amount of drugs to an address he frequented on the south side of Tyler.

Sheriff’s detectives located a white Humvee that Dean drove. Once Dean arrived in the area that was being watched, Smith County sheriff’s patrol deputies and detectives conducted a felony stop. Dean attempted to flee, putting the vehicle in reverse and intentionally ramming a Smith County sheriff’s detective's vehicle, investigators said.

Dean tore open bags of methamphetamine and poured the drugs on the inside and outside his vehicle as deputies tried to arrest him, according to investigators.

Dean was charged with possession of methamphetamine as well as evading arrest and aggravated assault on a public servant.

Did I mention that Horrace was not killed, not abused and has a long record? See Below.

Not reported by mainstream media because no one cares.
Because it is the real world of good cops, good cops from more than one department and more than one county or town working together to take the thugs off the street, good neighbors taking care of business. It shows that wanta be bad ass druggies that are worthless are now in jail.

Most of all you do not have the left leaning snowflakes crying on the Boob Tube about how unfairly the druggie thugs were treated.

Now that is the way I see it!

    You'll never see it reported.

Yup. We have a city not far from me and it's a cesspool of drugs and crime. The "authorities" are often not much better than the criminal element. Another town not too far away was once primarily populated by "evil white people", and less than 12 years later it's 90% Hispanic only. Now, if any of these criminals were to be shot or beaten in the process of arrest, that would make news headlines. But, since these criminals are merely fueling the prison industry and criminal justice corporation system as anticipated, it's all fine and dandy.

There was never an established state language, more's the pity. It was assumed that if you came here it's because you wanted to become a regular citizen and be able to communicate. Now, they come for the privilege of being here and make no effort to become part of the nation. Methinks it's time to make the English language official and if you can't read it, so sorry, you can't do business here.

Pretty impressive resume, er uh rap sheet. This guy should have been serving 30-40 years beginning back in 2004 or 5. It would appear he is what is referred to as a "career criminal".

Back in the early 70s a loosely associated friend of mine, who was barely 18, got mixed up with a bad character whose pastime among other things, was drugs and burglary. It was a rather poor life choice. The friend wound up with a 4 month sentence in Cecil County Jail, in Maryland. He later recalled the details of the sentencing hearing.

The bad character, who was tried at the same time, was standing in front of the judge who listed off his previous exploits. The character interrupted the judge, referred to His Honor as a prick, and challenged the judge to give him all the time he wanted to.

His Honor obliged to the tune of fifteen years, followed by the sound of a gavel and the words, "next case."

I agree with BTPost, three felonies and you are out not being feed in some prison on the tax payers dime.Thats three felonies of any kind. That should be no problem,we are killing unborn babies by the thousands. I think we have our priorities wrong, our country will never be great again as long as we are killing our unborn babies.

  15. I knew we have never had an official language. When my Grand parents came to this country they WANTED to fit in, not force everyone else to change to their ways. They didn't loose their culture but did business and public things the way their neighbors did. If they needed a translator THEY found one. And my grandparents came here legally. I don't know if there are enough people to vote to make American English the official language or not. Good idea though.
