In this post I am going to speak as guardedly and cautiously as possible. The serious events happening on the ground in parts of America right now have most people at least a little tense, and some people beginning to wonder if more ominous events are yet to come. I am from New York City, and have been watching in detail the wholesale and, as I believe, deliberate destruction of what until recently was generally referred to as the greatest city in the world. The rapidity with which our once great capitol of arts and finance has been decimated is, itself, incredible. Of course, there are other locations that seem well on their way towards suffering a similar fate, be it Chicago, for example, or whole states, now facing bankruptcy and joblessness, like New York, Illinois and California. Mainly, what prompted me to post this is a poll whose results I read this morning. Now I know polls can be manipulative and are often used to promote major media outlets, but (here it comes) this particular poll stated that some 47% of Americans now believe we are headed into civil war. OK, I've now used that term we must always be careful about throwing around. While the direct causes of such an eventuality are varied, my sober question to you all is: Do you believe America is headed in that direction? Or, if not a full-scale war, a period of significant, regional violence. In closing, let me just add my own two cents about all this. President Trump currently has a lot on his plate, to put it mildly. As soon as the war in Iran is over, though, and the President has a few minutes to focus on other, serious matters, I would surprise if he did not take steps to restore order in NYC and end the various types of madness that have led to the city's current state. Depending on what happens in the days and weeks ahead, I can see a scenario in which Trump may even put boots on the ground, temporarily. I lived through 9/11 and believe me there were soldiers all over, and in the very beginning our fighters were circling in the skies above the city.
