Lots of people hate meat loaf, but what they hate is meat loaf made with cheap fatty ground meat and bread...that's why you HAD to add ketchup. My mother makes a great meat loaf, she starts with good low fat ground meat and breadcrumbs, and adds salt, pepper, soy sauce, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and some secret ingredients that I can't reveal. She tops it with ketchup, but that's just tradition. It's so good that we look forward to it!

I have a meatloaf recipe in which I've had several years now.i keep a copy of it on my freezer door. Only thing I do different with it now.is I make meatloaf patties out of it.
Don't let your Meat Loaf! Mom wasn't much of a cook, but Gramma sure was, and her meat loaf was amazing, though not really a meatloaf at all ( Not like what you guys call a meat loaf anyways), we called it grub, served with gravy over top of smashed taters along with steamed veggies from the garden, no matter how much got shoveled on the plate, we wiped it clean with our regulation 2 slices of home made bread, and chased it with a FULL ( Like 24 Oz) glass of room temp whole milk right out of the can!
