There are many ways of winning game for the cooking pot: trapping being one of the ways that is time and energy efficient. The Mojave Scissor Trap is one low tech method, using found materials simply and easily crafted into a means of snaring small to moderate sized prey.

    Good post, chelly.

Don't forget to size your trap for the target animal.

One thing that is not mentioned often enough is that making some of these bushcraft things that we have on SM really should be tried at home before the need arises. ALL gear should (must) be tested, luck and memory will fail you when you're cold and hungry.

Agreed....being cold, wet, thirsty, hungry, and fearful of the threat of bad actors BAD ACTOR | meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary in your patch is not a good time to be discovering how to do something for the first time. One of the things pointed out in the videos is that native American hunters would often craft these traps ahead of the need, and cache them in places where the trapping was productive..
