It's not just suppressors anymore! I just had a Form 1 SBR approved to my NFA Trust in two business days. Blew my mind when I found the approval in my in box this morning. It appears things run differently now that Kash Patel is in charge.

I am really wondering if they will drop the need for suppressors to go through this admin stuff. I got a feeling they might but it's low on the 'Do List.'

There are countries where you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get the required permission to own a firearm silencers are not only unregulated they are mandatory for most uses such as hunting. They are part of the NFA here because it was passed during the Great Depression and our rulers were afraid the poor folk would poach all the game to stay alive.

That's interesting! I always thought it was because those Congressmen of the depression era watched too many James Cagney gangster films, thought it would make firearms so silent that it would put themselves in danger, on the poacher's list. :D

The reasons for the draconian NFA are nowhere near logical or reasonable, nor necessary. And just like every piece of power the government acquires, it's tough as hell to ever get them to give it up once they have it. I don't see the ATF being entirely dismantled, so we will not see the silencer bit go anywhere any time soon. Even for hearing conservation alone sets the level of importance, but it just doesn't rank very high given the amount of corruption currently being chipped away.

That's a good thing for folks wanting to get a silencer and not be afraid of going on a list. (y)

This does bring up a topic that I wish to discuss but will start a new thread to do so... NFA trusts or what other options? I have no family to leave the NFA guns and suppressors when I die, wife wouldn't know what to do with them and I wouldn't want to hamper her with them (her English is pretty good now but not good enough to waltz through taxes, NFA or government verbal garbage). I certainly don't want the government to get them...they get enough from me. Anyway, I would like to hear what others have done, maybe get some ideas. I will start a thread soon rather than hijack @3M-TA3 thread.
