Many things about the manufacture of the IH Garand that I did not realize and written by Bruce Canfield who is the Garand expert.
I had an IH Garand until it fell into the lake while ice fishing, sad.

Receiver heel markings on IHC-produced M1 Garand rifles varied in the format of their stamped lettering, ranging from (l. to r.): the “Arrowhead” style, to the “Postage Stamp” style, to the “Gap Letter” style, in the latter case an earlier example.

My father left me one of these when he passed away about 30 years ago. It was a real joy to shoot, but I never fired it. Unfortunately, at some point over the years it became misplaced.

I saw one and held it for a few minute's, Sadly never was given the opportunity to put a single round down the tube!
