Any ideas for nearly leak free compressed air? A charged up air tank is kind of like a battery. But it's a battery that goes completely dead with in a day or 2. Its pretty much a waste of energy to have your air leak down. I have stated putting 1/4 turn shut off valves on all air compressor quick disconnects. This seems to help a lot. Plus check all pipe joints and quick dissconnects with soapy water. I have one compressor that has a leaking diaphragm that I will replace soon. Also started using hard setting liquid Teflon bearing engine sealant on connections instead of Teflon tape. If anything I need quick diconnects that don't leak as much.
My compressor does not leak air until I put certain tools on the line. So I just take the tool off and it holds a full tank for a good long while.
As long as I keep the valves closed on my compressor, it only leaks 1 to 2 PSI, over the course of a month. Surprising to me, actually, due to the normal (cheap) quality of tools here.
