So this is the third optics I have bought from Primary arms that I have had to send back to them each time they just send me money back but never say anything. I bought Primary Arms GLx MD-21s Push Button 21mm Microdot with AutoLive - ACSS-CQB Red Dot Reticle for my Rossi R92 lever action it's set up like the triple black I believe it's called with the threaded barrel and rails. It looks so sweet on this rifle. Went to BZO but as always I do a soft zero were I place the radical above the top of my front sight it should be close after that. I was sending the 158 gr SWC 38 spl 50 yards past the target at the lowest point in the optic. Contact the company and they want me to pay for the shipping back to them for a busted optic that I paid for the shipping in the first place. As you can see in the photo the optic looks great has shake awake and solar also as a small foot print on the weapon. With the battery and solar on this it has an infinite life time on it only problem is that it has to work. This weapon is for my wife she likes the optic on it A LOT and was excited to shoot the weapon when I had it zeroed. I'm looking for something similar to this optic light weight compact, rugged as it's going to be a ranch rifle so it's not going to be a safe queen.
I've had very gppd luck with Primaty Arms, but all the ones I have are the Chinese made SLX. I'm surprised that the higher end Philippine made GLX has issues. Their customer support sounds lousy. I have a Holosun I've been using on one of my compact folding rifles and I'm very happy with it. The green reticle is surprisingly easy to pick up quickly. Holosun HS510C? or the enclosed HS512 version?
I don't like holographic red dot sights and only use prismatic. That being said, a trip to just about any major vendor site has plenty to choose from, and you are limited only by your budget. These days there's a lot to choose from. You can buy really good quality sights for $300 or less, and that wasn't possible just 10 years ago. ---> Optics Planet <---
Prismatics on all of mine except for one specialized short folder, and likely for the same reasons. In this case an extended eye relief is necessary, so there isn't much choice beyond a red dot (the Holosuns aren't true holos even though they act like one). PA's prismatics have been flawless for me so far, with 3x being (for me) the best magnification. I can hit man sized targets about as far as I want to with 5.56, but also shoot both eyes open for closer quicker targets.
I've had very good luck with Primary Arms optics, but I haven't bought any in a few years so maybe they change? I've always liked their price point compared to their quality but maybe that's not the case anymore. I will definitely be giving them a very close look in the future when I go looking for a new optic, which will be soon. Thank you for the heads-up.
