Two Bloomberg backed initiatives destined for the fall primaries aimed at significantly undermining Oregonians Second Amendment rights have failed to make the ballot over the last two weeks. IP 43 was an Assault Weapons Ban that classified every rifle pistol that accepted a magazine as an assault weapon and added them and any magazine capable of holding more than ten rounds as a banned device that could be retained by the current owner if they were registered pending an additional NICS check. Those firearms would only be permissible outside the house to transport to another state or to a shooting range. While they could be retained (for now) they could not be bought, sold, or passed down. Single shot, revolving, pump or lever action firearms were the only firearms not covered by the AWB. The rest would be considered assault weapons and covered by the ban. IP44 was a mandatory secure firearm storage initiative that would require the owner of a firearm to store that firearm in a safe, lockable cabinet, or have a trigger lock except when the firearm was in the owners hands. These conditions applied when passing the firearm to another person. For example if you wanted to let someone shoot a few rounds out of your rifle at the range you would have to put a trigger lock on it in order to hand it to someone standing next to you and they would have to put it back on to give it back. It also provisioned the ability for the Police to enter your home if you were suspected of not complying, like perhaps a pistol in your nightstand while you were asleep. The worst aspect of IP 44 was that the owner of a stolen firearm was responsible for the actions of the thief who stole it for FIVE YEARS unless he could prove that it had been properly stored. Yes, the burden of proof was on the lawful owner to prove that the thief cut off a trigger lock. Certainly no criminal would lie during a plea bargain to get a shorter sentence... Due to the collective efforts of the Oregon Outdoor Council, the Oregon Firearms Federation, and the Oregon Hunting Association in partnership with the NRA as well as over 1,000 people who challenged the Initiative title as misleading enough time was bought to prevent the sponsoring organizations from collecting enough signatures to get them to the ballot. IP44 withdrew last week and an Oregon Supreme Court decision earlier today sent IP43 back to the AG to clean up what were effectively lies in it's wording. The mandatory 10 days to allow for new challenges will prevent them from gathering one signature before signatures are due to the Oregon Secretary of State. I'm fervently hoping that the Sleeping Giant stays awake and kicks heavy ass. These people will be back in two years assuming the Oregon Legislature doesn't pass them as EMERGENCIES (prevents voter referendum - a favorite tactic of Oregon's Progressive controlled Legislature) this winter.
They'll be back with a revised piece of legislation that they will be too cowardly to pass themselves in Salem and will defer it to the voters next election after the Mid-terms. We got lucky in that they really jumped the shark by loading the bills sothat they essentially banned everything including little Johnnie's slingshot and the courts caught them at it.

Jackson County Oregon is trying to get a right to bear arms amendment on the ballot and voted on in November. Every non Libtard county in this country needs to do something like this because you can not vote the shitheads out when every state has a majority of Libtards in their biggest cities that control the elections.
