Wearing a ceramic and kevlar vest the bullet did not enter her body however the force knocked her to the ground. She was able to quickly regain footing and hit the emergency button to close the security barricade before the terrorist could pass through. She then with great focus and purpose unloaded her side arm into the vehicle killing the terrorist and saving unknown lives. Sounds like she was on guard duty by herself too which seems like we're getting complacent - again. Wanna bet that changes not just that base but all bases PDQ (pretty damn quick)? Naval Air Station.- Corpus Christi trains flight crews. NAS Corpus Christi is also home to the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD), the largest helicopter repair facility in the world (and an unusual arrangement of an Army installation located on a Naval facility). The commanding officer is currently Colonel Gail E. Atkins who took command of the depot on 20 July 2018. The Army is considering moving its helicopter squadron from Honduras to this air station to save money, using facilities recently abandoned when large Navy minesweeping helicopters moved elsewhere a major location Featured in my book The Fisher People". spent a lot of time at Google earth 'flying' over/around the installation as research for the book. The young sailor showed presence of mind. She did her duty and acted as she was trained to do. In spite of being struck by enemy fire, she showed courage and fortitude by sounding the alarm, securing the entrance gate, and returning fire; thereby preventing the security perimeter from being breached. Commendable conduct and evidence that women are indeed capable of armed combat in the military. 07
