A friend asked me to see what I could find out about this lantern. He thinks it's worth some money and it may be, but there's a lot of counterfeit copper and brass out there so maybe someone here can help with identification and value if possible. The name Seahorse and "Masthead" on the lantern would seem to indicate a nautical lantern but I don't really know. What do you think?
A mast head light (or anchor light) is a white light displayed ar night by anchored vessels. The reason these are still sold (new) today is the burn time. The lamp I featured above has a burn time of "at least 40 hours' and will not blow out, even in high winds. There are some modern built sailboats that seek to remain authentic in every way, even if they carry a Marine radio, SSB and a ERIPB as required by current Maritime regulation. Wooden boats are not dead they are just unbelievably expensive.....

He was around back when Jesus was still a corporal! Lol Those ships lamps are super cool, have a look at the wick, if it's rope It may have been set to run on whale oil!
Thanks, that's a good thing to know. I am old and I do know some things, but it will never be enough.
