Puerto Rico (HAven't Kept Up) Is there any commerce/business, do Toilets Flush, Banks Closed, Etc

I have my own pressing needs so I haven't kept up with Puerto Rico but did check General Survival & Preparedness & didn't see any Headings, so I'm posting this.

Have businesses and banks stopped running in Puerto Rico and what about the toilets? Are they flushing? Can one take showers? What are people doing for money and air conditioning?

Can someone keep me abreast here. Thanks.

 

I read and enjoy a lot of survival fiction. Florida, Texas, and areas near them are acting like they were in a Jerry Young story, situation gone totally to h***, but as a group we will work together and overcome all these problems. A lot of other areas, including much of Porto Rico, are acting like they were in a mad max story, chaos and screaming that they have the right for help from some outside group and trying to make us feel guilty for not meeting all their desires. I don't know how as an individual I can help and it doesn't matter if you live in a palace or a shack, if it burns down or blows away, you are in deep kimchee.

 

Roads and bridges are out to certain areas. Helos of any type I guess are scarce. Seems as US military could help there a bit. Of course there is the all knowing all powerful UN. What are they doing. Infrastructure is in a shambles. Our military is all the time wanting training exercises to include what used to be called military airlift command in the Airforce. why not get the airfields cleared and fly in supplies. I think there is more the US gov and Military could do to make things better. All of this of course would have to be approved via whitehouse and congress and then state dept would have to ensure PR was ready and willing to accept this help. In any of the States Fema has a plan to coordinate all this federal to state cooperation stuff. I don't know if it applies to US territories but maybe this needs to be looked at. Just my 2 cents.

 

There used to be a much larger navy presence in PR but they complained too much about vieques.

My ship did some 5inch gunfire training there in the early 1980s. Locals got PO'd when we blew up a cow. Yeah, supposed to be closed to people for safety reasons but some kept cattle there.

 

Should turn the entire island into a gunnery range and be done with it.
They want our help fine. Pack a bag and we'll let you finish invading Florida and NYC. Not good enough? Rebuild yer own damn bamboo hut. We'll toss in a couple seasons of Gillian's Island so they can watch how the professor did it..

 

Ed, can you drive a truck? PR needs drivers really bad, it dosnt pay any thing, you gotta bring every thing you need including food, water, fuel, and all your travle doccuments to prove your not a PRican, and they will work you to the bone! Dont make any plans, you will be there for years helping them get back to being a wellfair state of socialist snowflakes on the U.S. Teat!!!!!
