Jefferson was a stooge for the European bankers. Paul is no stooge. He would be more properly related with Andrew Jackson. That's enough to frighten the bankers, I should think.
Maybe so, but it was Franklin that spent most of the war in France stirring up suppliers, and probably making some "banking" arrangements as well.
