Any one have suggestions for an inexpensive shortwave radio receiver for just listening? Preferably good for those with low tech/electronics skills.

was thinking more along the lines of if electricity being out. So battery powered, and not needing a PC or a laptop. Basically a shortwave receiver/scanner if there is such a thing.

An SDR runs off a USB Port, and only uses a hundred milliwatts…. or so…

The capability for using an external antenna is in my opinion a must for any radio we will use for HF/SW.
The difference an external antenna makes even on cheaper radios is amazing, and very cheap with copper wire some coax and any number of things for insulators.
There are many homebrew wire antennas do a search.
