The Beagle Scout and Sasquatch Saga...

Background: The name "Big Foot" first gained renown by a Wyandot chief with that nickname in the 1830s "who derived his name from the immense size of his feet. Bigfoot - Wikipedia

Mar 21, 2012: LIVESCIENCE published Tracking Belief in Bigfoot: The legendary woodlands ape, though answering to different names, has been a fascination across the globe. For instance, a group of Chinese researchers announced in October 2010 that they were mounting an expedition to seek evidence of the yeren, the Chinese version of Bigfoot. Other searches for the yeren in prior decades all failed to find conclusive evidence of the beast's existence. The team, led by a man named Luo Baosheng, is hoping to raise $1.5 million to launch the search.

The so-called Canadian Sasquatch is essentially the same creature as the American Bigfoot, though it is claimed to be primarily nocturnal and a fast runner. Moving to Asia, the Yeti — formerly known as the Abominable Snowman — is said to live in the forest below the snow line of the Himalaya Mountains. Reports suggest the creature is muscular, covered with dark grayish or reddish-brown hair, and weighs between 200 and 400 pounds (90 and 180 kilograms). Compared with Bigfoot, the Yeti is claimed to be relatively short, with an average height about 6 feet (1.8 meters).

The Down Under variety, dubbed Yowie, reportedly stands anywhere from 5 to 11 feet (1.5 to 3.4 meters) tall, and has yellow or red eyes deeply set inside a dome-shaped head.

Searching for Bigfoot Inc.: Arizona Discovery May Be the "Biggest Find of the Millennium" it stills gives a perspective on the number of reported sightings within the USA.

Nov 26, 2018: Sasquatch Central writes “Individuals claiming to have seen Bigfoot describe it as a large, hairy, muscular, bipedal ape-like creature, roughly 6 ft –9 ft tall, covered in hair described as black, dark brown, or dark reddish.

Some descriptions include details such as large eyes, a pronounced brow ridge, and a large, low-set forehead. The top of the head has been described as rounded and crested, similar to the sagittal crest of the male gorilla, with a strong, unpleasant smell. The enormous footprints for which the creature is named are claimed to be as large as 24 inches long and 8 inches wide.”

Jan 16, 2016: Due to the vastly different descriptions often associated with Bigfoots, and we all have different meanings of colors and various pigments involved, I have elected to classify them in five basic colors i.e. Black, Brown, Blonde, Grey, White.

The descriptions all vary, but there is an overall consensus of a “large, hairy, muscular, bipedal ape-like creature” and there are several reported color variants including the “Grey Bigfoot”.

Knowing that a sighting from 2009 took place in Flagstaff, Arizona my trusty Beagle Scout has been busy searching the internet for news, scientific updates and reported sightings. Beagle Scout is sure that there has been a recent sighting of a Grey Bigfoot and is furiously searching for information. He has been so pressed to find evidence, that he believes a Grey Bigfoot is near, as he can now smell it.

Watch out all you monkeys, there might be a big ape near you!

Stay tuned for more reports and photos from the trusty Beagle Scout.

Strange...as I was bored a few days ago and started watching YouTube about 'Big Foot Sightings/Stories', it was actually quite fun... sort like sitting fireside and hearing ghost stories. I am not a believer but neither am I a disbeliever as some of those folks were definitely not crackpots. Just saying...

The Beagle Scout and Sasquatch Saga…

The Beagle Scout had no success at locating the Grey Bigfoot. After further digging he realized that it might be, could possibly be, the fabled Tool A Long Sasquatch or TALS that doesn’t give off an odor and thought that it was probably just his mind playing tricks on him and that the strong, unpleasant smell was probably from the winds bringing in the scent of the diaries west of here in the town of Maricopa. He packed his bag and headed out in search of evidence and signs that would help him locate the fabled TALS.

Knowing that he was embarking on a hunt of great magnitude, he double checked his EDC to make sure that he had all the necessary gear for the hunt ahead. He started with his checklist as he didn’t want to forget anything. 1) Wallet, 2) Handkerchief, 3) Comb, 4) Folding Knife, 5) Bic Lighter, 6) Cigarettes, 7) Keys and OPTs (One Piece Tools),

    8) Cellphone (also his camera to document his search), 9) Hat, 10) Glasses, 11) Coin Pouch, 12) RITR notepad 3x5 and 13) RITR pencil (for keeping notes and documenting his search).

Additionally, he packed his Sling Bag (Outlaw II Sling Bag from 3VGear) with the extra supplies he might need. 1) IFAK (Individual First AId Kit) 2) mini mag flashlight with upgraded LED bulb and tail switch from Nite-Ize

    3) Leatherman Surgeman multi-tool, 4) Husky razor blades knives (1x straight, 1x serrated blades), 5) Duck Tape,

    6) 550 cord (you never know), 7) additional RITR notepad and pencil, 8) Jacket and watch cap (for those late night hunts), 9) Space blanket, 10) Fire Kit, 11) Sewing Kit (for field expedient repairs), 12) Water (water reservoir in the sling bag), 13) Toilet wipes (it’s one of those things that never gets mentioned in load outs, “I wonder why” thought Beagle Scout)

Uh Oh! The number 13 has repeated itself. 13 items on both lists. It would be bad luck to start of a hunting expedition in search of the fabled TALS with such numbers. The Beagle Scout reconsiders his position and decides to take a few days to ponder over what else he has forgotten and needs to add to the list which will help him to be better prepared and also help avoiding two 13 item lists.

Having scoured the internet with no results or even the vaguest of references, the Beagle Scout decided to head to the local library. Hoping that there might be an older reference that still survived from the times before internet and instant access information. Unsure but hopeful, he spent hours reading everything he could find regarding Sasquatch and the differing species that have been reported. Beagle Scout was sure that there was a Tool A Long Sasquatch (TALS) nearby. He could feel the hairs on the back off his standing up.

[IMG]BSSS_Library_01 by Grandpa Patch, on Flickr

While there were a few references to Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Yeti and the Abominable Snowman, their similarities and differring hair colors (Black, Brown, Light Brown (Tan) Grey, Red), he could not find what he was looking for. There were very few old records of reported sightings of the grey species and no information at all about the fabled and ever elusive TALS. Full of determination to identify this rare species, he headed home to complete his packing for the adventure ahead. But first, he needed to refill the water jugs before heading home.

[IMG]BSSSS_Water_01 by Grandpa Patch, on Flickr

Realizing which items he had overlooked with his pocket EDC and sling bag EDC, he quickly got the last few items stored. Pocket EDC: 1) Pistol - very important as you don’t want to piss off TALS and not have a way to defend yourself. 2) Leatherman Surge (switched out with the Leatherman Super Tool which was belt carried, but move into the sling bag EDC) carried on his belt and ready to use the scissors if necessary to retrieve small hair samples.

In the Sling Bag EDC: 1) extra AA batteries for the mini maglite. 2) a few snacks (PayDay candy bars and a few protein bars) to munch on while sitting in his hide. 3) zip lock bags for collecting any hair samples that he might come across.

[IMG]AAbatterycase_01 by Grandpa Patch, on Flickr

Now the number of items looked good, 15 Pocket EDC items and 16 Sling Bag EDC items. That should get rid of the bad luck of two list ending in the number thirteen. A good night’s rest and he would be off in the morning on his TALS Expedition.
