Here are a couple you tube videos on the life of Browning that I enjoyed. I got a little bit upset with the way the information was presented in the first, didn't like his attempts at humor, but the data is good and quite complete. This one takes a while to get into but is a very good discussion of both Browning's life and his weapons. Well worth watching. It is very detailed and takes two parts. The inclusion and discussions of the patent drawings make this one well worth while. I find that I like to stop the video and study the drawings. Should break down and buy the book.
As a YUGE fan of everything J.M.B. had a hand in, or designed and made, this series is a MUST-WATCH! Between John Browning, Oliver Winchester, Samual Colt, and Eliphalet Remington, America had the basis of the world's foremost arsenal of personal weapons of any nation on earth, and some of the most advanced machining and manufacturing came as a direct result, leading this nation to become the worlds dominate force in every industrial capacity! Look at the achievements each of these men accomplished individually, as well as their abilities to foresee the needs of the future in manufacturing in large quantities, such works led to advanced achievements no other country on earth would discover for many years if not decades later! These men also had a large hand in creating or even founding other highly successful companies, and even improving on existing concerns capabilities! It was the perfect time for such men to exist and to do what they loved, we owe our existence to the works these few men accomplished! Few will realize this, but the works of these men would have FAR reaching consequences in manufacturing, such diverse concerns as Ford Motor Company, General Electric, Baldwin, Fairbanks-Moris, EMD, Studebaker, Dodge Bros. and many hundreds more, and especially such companies as Newport News Shipbuilding, Dahlgren, Pratt & Whitney, South Bend, R.E.O, Franklin, Oldsmobile, Curtise Wright, Martin, Boeing, and many many others, ALL owe their success to these few great men!
