    tacmotusn RIP 1/13/21

This Post will be in two parts. 1# Senator Alan Simpson's words about all 310 million of you greedy suckers of the Government Social Security Teats
    .
2# Patty Myer's letter to him in response.
    .
A link to a petition to have Senator Alan Simpson removed from the committee that provides oversight to Social Security was found to no longer be valid. In lieu of that, (Those of you from Wyoming, don't forget this worthless piece of crap come time for his reelection.)
    .
Updated with Simpson's apology and calls for his dismissal from Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Peter DeFazio.

Liberals and groups in favor of preserving Social Security are calling for the co-chair of President Obama's deficit commission to resign after he said in an e-mail that Social Security is "a milk cow with 310 million tits."

In a letter responding to criticisms against him from a group representing older women, former Wyoming Sen. Alan Simpson wrote that he has "spent many years in public life trying to stabilize" Social Security. However, he wrote, "Yes, I've made some plenty smart cracks about people on Social Security who milk it to the last degree. You know 'em too. It's the same with any system in America. We've reached a point now where it's like a milk cow with 310 million tits!"
Simpson and former White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles, the co-chairs of Mr. Obama's bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, have raised the ire of liberals with remarks suggesting they intend to recommend scaling back Social Security as a means of reducing the deficit.

However, groups are saying today that Simpson's latest remarks prove he is unfit to lead the commission and should resign.

"Alan Simpson's comments are offensive and sexist and clearly demonstrate that he is unfit to continue to lead the President's Fiscal Commission," Eric Kingson, Co-Director of Social Security Works, said in a statement. "His comments not only show his true view of women and older Americans but also his disdain for the very program he claims he is trying to protect - Social Security."

If Simpson does not resign, Kingson said, Mr. Obama should fire him. Richard Eskow of the liberal group Campaign for America's Future agreed that Simpson should resign immediately or be fired.

Simpson's letter "demonstrates conclusively that he possesses neither the judgment, the ability, nor the emotional stability to carry out his mission," Eskow wrote.

AARP Senior Vice President Drew Nannis blasted Simpson's "woeful disconnect from or disinterest" in the challenges facing many Americans, but he stopped short of calling for Simpson's resignation.

"Senator Simpson's latest attack on Social Security is offensive for several reasons, particularly for belittling a bedrock program that is the foundation of family security for all generations," he said. "The vast majority of the 310 million Americans he insulted - particularly 156 million women and younger Americans for whom the traditional pension will be a relic of history - don't have access to the type of traditional pension retirement security that Sen. Simpson has from his decades in Congress."

Nannis continued that Simpson's remarks are a "departure from reality" that "undermine the serious work of the commission and give us little confidence the commission can fairly look at important programs such as Social Security."

Simpson's letter was addressed to Ashley Carson, executive director of the National Older Women's League (OWL), a group representing middle-aged and elderly women. It was sent in response to a Huffington Post blog entry in which Carson wrote, "Mr. Simpson continues to paint the picture that everyone receiving Social Security benefits is living the high life - driving luxury cars, dining out and living in gated communities."

In reality, Carson wrote, the average Social Security beneficiary in America receives $13,900 annually -- providing a lifeline for the many older women living in poverty. She cites the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities to show that the Bush tax cuts and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are largely responsible for the nation's deficit problems, not Social Security.

OWL is also now calling for Simpson's resignation and has set up a petition to Mr. Obama for his dismissal.

Democrats this year have attacked Republicans for proposals to privatize Social Security, in the hopes that the GOP's views on the entitlement program will boost Democratic candidates and blunt Republican hopes for predicted victories in this fall's midterm elections.

However, liberals have been nearly as wary of Democrats, some of whom have suggested they are open to scaling back benefits. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said earlier this year he thinks raising the retirement age could be done with other modifications to ensure that Social Security benefits still support those most in need - such as paying out benefits on a progressive scale. House Democratic Whip James Clyburn has also said he would support raising the retirement age. Additionally, Mr. Obama said this year that "everything has to be on the table" with respect to reducing the deficit.

UPDATE, 3:55 p.m. ET: Simpson this afternoon wrote a letter of apology to Carson for his e-mail.

"I know you care deeply about strengthening Social Security, and so do I, just as deeply," Simpson wrote. "Over the last 40 years, I have had my size 15 feet in my mouth a time or two."

Simpson said that it was not his intention to cause Carson any anguish or to diminish her work for the Older Women's League. He also suggested the two meet in person so he could learn more about her concerns.

Meanwhile, other groups this afternoon condemned Simspon's remarks and called for his resignation, including the Alliance for Retired Americans and the National Organization for Women.

UPDATE, 5 p.m. ET: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) today sent President Obama a letterurging him to dismiss Simpson from the deficit commission.

"Simpson's comments are highly insulting to the tens of millions of senior citizens, persons with disabilities, widows and orphans who have contributed into this highly-successful program and who now utilize it," the letter says. "It is false and demeaning to say that these people, the vast majority of whom have worked their entire lives and contributed into the Social Security system, are somehow 'milking' the system."

Here’s a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Montana … I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is!
“Hey Alan, let’s get a few things straight..
    1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS.
    2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).
3 My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would have made Bernie Madoff proud..
    4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission is proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.
    5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the bills.
    6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you incompetent bastards spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.
To add insult to injury, you label us “greedy” for calling “********” on your incompetence. Well, Captain ********, I have a few questions for YOU.
    1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?
    2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?
    3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?
    4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?
It is you, Captain ********, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the “greedy” ones. It is you and your fellow nutcases who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers. And for what? Votes. That’s right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.
And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bitch.
If you agree with what a fellow Montana citizen Patty Myers says, PASS IT ON!!!!”
By the way Alan, I am pissed too!
I am very close in age and work longevity to Patty, but I would like to add the following. In the early to mid seventies, when most businesses did not have computer systems, the company I worked for processed payroll for other companies. I made many of the tax changes. It seemed like every year for a while that the government raised the rate of the Social Security Tax. Every time I made that change I, too, was pissed. This was a contract we had no choice in and that got changed at the whim of the federal government without our consent. To add insult to further injury, along the way they upped the early retirement age without our consent from 59 1/2 to 62. Every reasonable study ever conducted indicates that the same money put in the most conservative private fund would yield an enormously higher return.
Social Security has been a Ponzi Scheme from the beginning.
So, Alan Simpson and any other idiot member of congress. You had damn well better watch what you say and do.
    Millions of Americans are pissed!

Since there's 308 Million Americans... He'd be implying that you and I are in that bunch as well..

I would take exception to that.. I've been paying into that system for 25 years, and cannot collect a penny of it for 27 more years.. They say they run out of money in 2037 ( 26 years from now ).. We ALL know that it won't be there then.. So, if I'm paying about $100 a week into that, by the way, that works out to about $270,000 over 52 working years in today's dollars .. And I'll never get a dime out of it.. Who's at the teat ?? -- I'd knock the son of a bitches front teeth out...
I'm not looking for SS checks.. I'm looking to keep whats in my paycheck... It comes out of my paycheck, goes to the Indians !! You can tell when the SS checks go out, because the casino's are jam packed...

That's why the gash-darned SENATE and HOUSE memebrs MUST be included in it. If THEIR money was at risk, they'd get the system working and wouldn't be raiding it to pay for effing WELFARE programs.......

We employees PAY into this system all our working lives by force, not of our own free will. But since it's MY money, you're darned tootin' I want my 'investment' back! And anyone calling it 'welfare' or being 'on the teat' has my utmost disgust. They simply do not understand how it's supposed to work. Sorry if that offends anyone, but the statements against us offends me.

UGRev, you missed the point that Falcon15 is making.... Your Money isn't there anymore, PERIOD. It has ALL been spent, paying for others, Benefits. and all the extra Stuff these Congress Critters have heaped on to the SS Rolls, like Disability Payments, WIC Payments, Aid to Dependent Children, and the like. None of these OTHER things paid in a DIME to the system. On top of that, Your Congress Critters have robbed the Fund, of Trillions of Dollars, and put it in the General Fund, and given the SS Fund Paper IOUs to replace that stolen Money. Who do you think is going to REPAY that Money, and redeem those IOUs? NoBody, that is who... The Money is GONE, Spent, To Bad, so Sad.... The only thing that keeps it going is in the Income each Month, from the folks still Paying IN, so that folks, LIKE ME, can get some of ours OUT. Yea, I am one of those poor Despicable reTIRED SS Recipients that collects a few measly Bucks every month, after putting in every year, since I was 12 years old, some FIVE Decades ago. MY Money isn't there anymore, either... I depend on the rest of the good folks, making their Payroll Contributions, just to get my Check, every month. I have never collected ONE Dime from the Government, in Welfare, or any other, of the FREE Money for Votes, schemes that these crocked Congress Critters have come up with, but By The Lord Almighty, I will collect as much of my SS as I can, till I get planted, and start pushing up Daisy's... ..... YMMV....

I agree the only bad thing is the way the goverment screwed the coal miner here in WV I hate to see the wives of the dead miner's and soforth get cut. You know they let the coal companies change the rules that now when the retiered miner's die their wives are cut off and left out to hang. My thing and as many of you I don't have a problem with the progrem and it supporting the older retired men and their wive's because they payed and if I work and pay into it my wife if I get killed should be able to draw my benifts. What has turned this program into a burden on us all is that it was set up to be like a safety net for the goverment they can barrow from it any time with no one to answer to. Then you have the drunks and drug addict check's bastards never worked a day and get $625.00 a month. We all see people on it SS everyday and working like hell doing under the table work so that way they can keep the check. I think they should do away with the goverment control and force these companies to a have retirement system for the ones that are making them money. The reason I say force is we all know what its like to be bull of the woods and Im never going to grow old just give me my extra hundred a payday that will be my weekend beer money. I look back now and regret everyday I didn't pay in. With the SS system the Federal Goverment has robbed all working Americans for years. What I don't understand is a person can be charged with embesselment for a peti cash box what about the money stolen from us all under false pretences by the Fed's

I don't believe I missed the point at all. My money is still being stolen from my check each pay day to pay for the welfare of others who weren't wise enough to save for their retirement. I admit, I'll be screwed when I'm 65 years old.. but it's my own damn fault. Now, if I could use that extra cash that would otherwise go to SS, then maybe I'd be less screwed.

When Social Security goes belly up with no thought to those who paid in their entire lives I will go back to work. My new job will be collecting what is owed me from retired politicians, and convincing them to renounce all future benefits from government coffers. Of course they will do this out of the goodness in their hearts alone just for the good of the country, and continued long life of same. [BSf][stirpot]
