Have you smelled the smoke in the fire you made lately?

LOL, the PNW is full of moss... we have webbed feet as well. Currently on day 5 or so of rain and expected to continue into mid next week.

Been a while since I've been here. Nine years in fact. When I read a post like yours, YT, I get goosebumps, and immediately begin to regret not coming here more often. Well done, Sir!

I finally got the Fire Trucks serviced and put to bed for the winter and am off work for a few weeks? until the snows allow the resort to open, so I have time to get those last of season chores done! I have been hiking all over the country side chasing a herd of Elk looking for a shot on a nice mature bull to fill my Muzzle Loader tag, and the air is nice and crisp and cold! Really reminds me why I love the mountains so much! Cannot have an Outdoor fire yet, but We have been feeding the wood stove steady for a few days and the smells have awakened many memories of my youth! Great times!

Been using my wood stove once in a while now .
Reminds me of when my kids were young and my daughter learning to cook on it ,those were good times.

Not for the last few days... The temps have been above 26F, so the cabin stays above 70F.... Do not need the supplemental Heat, above 25F...

Something living like an open fire, can be hypnotic if you let it.
I guess that's why people have fire places in their homes, not necessarily for the heat, but the entertainment value .
funny thing is , it never get's old.

I have so many oak trees down due too high winds.
However I do like the red oak for a fire, Gets so hot it will make metal glow red in the dark.

Always touches a spot deep inside man to gather around a fire. Half my friends enjoy it with a few beers, the kids play with it, and everyone likes to put something on a stick and cook it. The last outdoor fire we had, I lit tinder with a magnifying glass and made a fire bundle, twice, as the first went out. Later me and a bud unwrapped it and blew it to life. Good times!
Great reminder YD! We are the product of our upbringing.

Exactly!!! My future SIL is a master on a Treager, builds guns, shoots with me, hunts, builds and rides quads because we love to "GET AWAY FROM IT ALL" whenever we can. Most of the places I fish do not have cell service nor WIFI and I just love it.
    CITIZENS UNPLUG!!!
We live in a rural area far away from the rat race of the big cities by choice, it's where we raised both of our kids and IS home for us.
We get to burn most all year as our tree farm is always shedding branches from the storms of the PNW.
Hell, we even go out in the shop when it's freezing to enjoy my wood stove loaded up with maple. The wife and kids (fur babies) sit by the fire while I sit at the reloading bench prepping cases for future Freedom Ammunition.
God bless America, life is good out here!!!
